Group Show Opening in Los Angeles, CA - On The Ground Floor (OTGF)

Happy to have four of my images from River Place in this show that was curated by Malika Ali.

Los Angeles, CA - On The Ground Floor (OTGF) is pleased to present “Roots,” a group exhibition of seventeen global emerging artists rendering narratives that evoke our natural world, our native lands, our troubled families, and our forgotten. Combining histories, memories, and shifting cultural landscapes; these artists probe their geneses and offer up musings on food, farming, and tiny acts of freedom.

On The Ground Floor is a South LA based alternative arts space established in the spring of 2014. OTGF hosts art shows, talks, readings, performances, and workshops that seek to foster meaningful conversations about the arts, create organic connections for artists, and preserve space for artistic experimentation and exploration. Located at 3616 Mount Vernon Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90008.

At the Edisto River in SC

At the Edisto River a few days ago. I was scouting out some new spots for other site-specific installations. The natural line up of these cypress knees in addition to the way they were silhouetted captured my attention.

I also stopped by to visit the moss ring I built a month or so back. Happy to see the moss is thriving. The images I took here before are quite contrasty with strong shadows cutting across the frame (see Moss Ring 1 and 2  under  Communions on the web site ). The softer light depicted here is very appealing, so I may have to do another performance at this site utilizing this lighting.

A story from Clear Creek Creative in KY

Inspired and impressed by this Alternate ROOTS article that describes people coming together at Clear Creek Creative in KY to protect their land from encroaching frackers.
